IET01 Update

IET01 Update

2026 will see the introduction of the new IET01 standards recommendations, put forward by the IET; the standard addresses an enhanced solution for open neutral, (PEN failure) conditions, (generally), but in particular EV charge points; the term OPDD has now been invoked to refer to these devices, (Open combined Protective and neutral (PEN) conductor Detection Devices. This is a comprehensive approach to the subject which sets strict limits on OPDD performance criteria. The CityEV Safevolt® PEN failure device which has been in service to meet BS7671 amd.1 for a number of years is being superseded early in 2026 by the CityEV SafevoltOne©, specifically aimed at addressing the new standard.

** The IET is a UK centre for excellence and does not endorse any products; it exists to promote standards for good practice and is a totally independent organisation; any refences to the IET acknowledge the common purpose for good practice and all trademarks etc. belonging to the IET are respectfully acknowledged **

The CityEV SafevoltOne© range encompasses integrated and standalone solutions to address the requirements of the new IET01 standard and will be available across the UK CityEV range in the early part of 2026, for more information contact sales.

CityEV has installed 250 contactless charge points in Portsmouth, together with our Partner Zest, who owns and operates these units; the switch gear was not supplied by CityEV in this instance and is installed by external contractors.
